Dr. Nirankar Agarwal, born in U.P., had his school education in Ramnagar (bordering the Corbett National Park), District Nainital, Uttarakhand and college education at Lucknow, the capital of Uttar Pradesh. Subsequent to his doctorate in Organic Chemistry with primary focus on medicinal chemistry related topics, he carried out further research in W. Germany and U.S.A.
He became a devotee of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother at the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Pondicherry in 1968, a path which eventually led him to join Sri Aurobindo Ashram-Delhi Branch in 1986 as an ashramite where he continues to pursue the Integral Yoga of the Masters.
His primary responsibilities from 1986 till 2008 in the Ashram devolved around helping conduct Adventure Youth Camps in Nainital, and also Sri Aurobindo National Integration Camps for a decade and a half in Nainital and other regions of the country. These camps were mostly conducted under the aegis of Sri Aurobindo Education Society, a sister institution of Sri Aurobindo Ashram-Delhi Branch. In addition to many other activities of the camps, his responsibility also incorporated leading meditation sessions and giving regular talks on character-building and healthcare topics.
He has designed board games, in the Monopoly format, based on the story and characters of the great Indian epics, Ramayana and Mahabharata; namely, India’s Epic Ramayana Game and India’s Epic Mahabharata Game. Both games have English and a Hindi version. The games are designed to the learning of the tales and wisdom of the ancients in an entertaining manner.
He is an active promoter of self-care health regimes based on experiential corroboration for many body systems, garnering information and knowledge from myriad sources including folk medicine, Dr. Bates’ insight into vision, hatha-yoga and shat-karma, Marma Therapy, Homeopathy, and common sense.
